We are currently building matchstick sculptures that are incongruous and impermanent.  We do it because it is art.
 
PSA: you are free to make art even if you don't yet know that you deserve to make art.

Welcome to Matchpoint! This project is bigger than any one of us alone.
 
Building structures that will burn to ash with or without an audience changes the way you work on the project.   Unleash your most unlikely ideas.  Give voice  to the smallest, silliest notions. This is an elevated state of consciousness.  This is being  Matchpoint.
 
This state of being allows a nuanced understanding of the way art involves or engages our own individual perception. Eventually, or even ultimately-- an individual's experience  within an immersive installation or the aftermath of shared experiences in an art installation has lasting impacts on ourselves and our communities. These impacts are so far reaching in our personal development and sense of perspective that the value is immeasurable.
 
The value of art in our lives is priceless.   Art in our daily lives just may be the only reason to  continue to have a life, daily.

Art is indispensable, and there is no scarcity.  Art is everywhere all the time.  Is it the way  you score a loaf of bread?  It may be the way you place the plants in your garden.   It could be- the way you glue together a few matches or a few  boxes of matches.
 
​No one can truly stifle art.  There will always be a new medium to work in and more art. 
 
Because attachment to completed works is still attachment, working in a medium that promises the end result will burn to a crisp can help manage the tendency to hoard collections of work across various mediums.  There is no reason to hoard the finished piece!  We just burn it!
 
Figuring out when to burn these pieces is best determined by community imposed deadlines. ​
 
Just as an individual's experience is enhanced and impacted by the community nurturing the individual.  Matchpoint sculptures are enhanced and impacted by the individuals building the panels piece by piece.

Panels are crafted by volunteers at a variety of events then are pieced together into a sculpture. 
 
Matchpoint is for everyone.  We welcome people of all backgrounds and lifestyles to join us.
